MCM Honors Residency Graduates of 2023 at Annual Ceremony

MUNTINLUPA, April 22, 2023 - Medical Center Muntinlupa (MCM) celebrated its annual Residents’ Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the 5th floor of the hospital. The event was held to honor and congratulate the seven graduates of the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics departments, along with their families.

The hospital's iconic blue and gold colors adorned the venue, with a delicious buffet feast of Filipino favorites. The event was attended by hospital executives, including newly appointed President Dr. Daniel Advincula, former Presidents Dr. Uriel Halum and Mr. Manuel Eduardo Lunas, management consultant Dr. Loida Ponio, Chief of Clinics and incumbent President of Parañaque Doctors Hospital Dr. Geanie Cerna-Lopez, and MCM Board Director Dr. Leo Katigbak. The ceremony was presided over by Greenery Properties and Development’s Vice President of Communications, Mr. Carlo Herrera.

Dr. Vivienne Guzman-Kasaju, a graduate of MCM’s 2009 batch and now practicing in several of the country's top institutions, gave the commencement speech. Dr. Guzman-Kasaju highlighted the challenges of MCM’s Residency Program and the excellent mentorship provided by the institution.

MCM President Dr. Daniel Advincula congratulated the graduates and remarked how special this batch was; that despite the difficulties brought about by the global COVID-19 pandemic, they successfully completed their residency program on time, while other hospitals were forced to suffer delays in their respective programs.

To formally congratulate the graduates, the respective Chairs and training officers of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics were also present.

Department Chair Dr. Sharon Rose Mortel and training officer Dr. Mary Jill Bagasino congratulated the Internal Medicine graduates, while Department Chair Dr. Leonor Galang and training officer Dr. Paulene Ver Serna-Zarate congratulated the Pediatrics graduates.

Dr. Ma. Cheska Faye R. Delen and Dr. Frances Diane Cayomba spoke on behalf of their classes, each reflecting on the invaluable mentorship, memorable cases, and their batch’s resilience amidst the constant challenges brought about by the pandemic.

In her closing remarks, Chief of Clinics Dr. Geanie Cerna-Lopez reminded the graduates that they are entering the most determining stage of their careers. She urged them to remain guided by the Hippocratic Oath, integrity, perseverance, and compassion.
